Hi,

We're looking at getting a Cavalier trailer soon with annexe. I'm guessing the total floorspace will be in the region of 15' x 19'.

My question is probably stupid, but will this fit in the majority of campsites? I'm talking the common ones like big4 which we'll probably stick to in the early days to get used to it all.

Again, probably a stupid question but worth asking!

Thanks

Hi there

We have a Cavalier Off Road camper trailer with the 14' tent area and annex and have no problems on any site we have been on, including having room to park the car. (We stay at Big4whenever we are in a major centre or Alice Springs.)

Great trailer, cannot fault them and we have done some miles in the last year and a half since we bought it.

Enjoy

Cheers
Mark

Looked at the cavalier, but bought another, for no particularly bad experience or comment on cavalier.

Ours is a similar soft floor side opening on the driver side, is the cavalier passenger or drivers side opening?

We have a problem with ours in regular van parks using a caravan site.
The slab for a van annex is on the passenger side of the van.

So alternatives are:

park the trailer on the slab with the annex on the ground where the caravan usually goes.

Turn the CT around with the draw bar away from the front.

Put the CT on the far right of the slab and drop the annex on the slab, and park the car where a caravan goes.

I wouldn't have thought many would open out on the driver's side, sound sa bit unusual to me.

Yes Cavalier open out on drivers side. Never been a problem with us though but I do not get slab sites, always ask for grass site because of slab is too high etc and causes problems. Can do without concrete floor.

We have turned it around so draw bar is away from the front depending upon the site and where we wanted the access. However cannot see a problem in that anyway, they are pretty easy to move around by hand.

I guess it is to each his own, hey.

Like you, we tend to get unpowered sites, usually on the grass down the back of a van park.

Some times we go for a powered site, which are usually set up for a caravans and annex.
Gives us a bit of luxury with the 240v connected. Hook up the kettle, toaster, electric fry pan, lap top, heater if it is cold. Recharge the batteries.

With a caravan site, the manager sometimes insists on the draw bar being to the road for fire reasons.
If a fire starts in the park, they want to be able to quickly pull every one out.
A few managers have said not to worry with a CT, they are light enough to push anyway.
