finally, my shock belt tensioner is gone, no more squeal on river crossings.
a big thanks has to go out to Richie from Hume off Road in Hume, what a 4wd mechanic!
when he pulled the shock tensioner out, it was already stuffed, leaking after 6 months... thanks Mr Nissan for designing such a good belt tensioner! (not!).
i can now adjust the tensioner with a 12 mm spanner ( to loosen) and a 13mm socket with an extension bar.
being so patient, he didnt charge me for R&D and just for the manufacture of the new tensioner and fitting. $390 all up.
trialled it with WD40, oil,
water, threw dirt in the mix, then some mud, nothing!! nothing at all (yes i did clean it up after the trial.
nothing that a bit of Aussie engineering cant fix.
he used parts of a cruiser (easy cruiser fans) and manufactured the rest.
jolly good!!

Sorry Mr Devil, My belt tensioner died twice. Once in the bush, when the bearing on the tensioner collapsed and shredded the belt. I had to be towed out of the bush (It may have been you who towed me!) and then the second time the tensioning mechanism failed and I had to replace the whole unit and they're about $450 as I recall.
