Sticking to the oil specifications, as listed in the owners manual, seems to be a good place to start.
People swear by Penrite, Valvoline, BP,
Mobil, Shell,
Caltex and just about any other brand and as long as it meets Toyota specifications, your warranty is not voided.

You know it makes you feel good to praise your choice in anything, cars, oil etc. It is our nature to be happy with what we buy, it reinforces the idea that we made the right choice.

Hi Disco, Toyota use a oil that is good enough to get them over the warranty period and thats the end of it, Castrol 10w/30 seems to be their thing for everything, The economy oil!!!. Check out the 200ltr drums behind any Toyo workshop. Its fine under certain conditions, as i have found out..LOL.
Cheers Axle.

Hi Garry. Penrite recommend HPR Diesel 5 oil for your vehicle. It is part synthetic. Have a look here
http://www.penriteoil.com.au/oil_selector.php
They also have a very good technical help line 1800 110 080 Bob.

Yes that is correct, HPR 5 Diesel is what I am using in my V8 76 Series. Penrite oil is my personal choice, have used it for years and have found it to be a good product.

Hi Garry If the troppy is a new one you may have to use a synthetic / low ash oil if it has a diesel particual filter so to meet the new euro oil standards otherwise you would block the filter

Gary
From what I have been told, I would probably go for the mineral oil ( normal ) till at least you run it in, and bed the engine.
,,,,Synthetic oils have no bedding properties, due to the purity of it.
Once your vehicle is "run in" say after 30,000 km, then switch over to synthetic.
Cheers Bucky
