Would anyone happen to know if there is mobile phone coverage at Charlie Moorland near Kenilworth. We are expectant grandparents, only a week or two to go, and are venturing to CM for four days - just hoping we might be contactable. Or alternatively, the closest point, or perhaps a contact point in the camp ground?

If you are going to be staying in a caravan park, leave the park phone number with the family and tell them you will ring them when you get there. And then if there is no service, use the public phone box. Maybe if you are with Telstra, jump on their website and have a look at the coverage map. All the mobile phone company's have those coverage maps on their websites.

Thanks Karen for that. Tried to look on Telstra, but no luck yet. Do you know if there is a public phone there at Charlie Moorland or is there a park ranger on site?

Mmmmmmmmmmm, see what you mean baout the Telstra map, it will not load. Maybe Telstra have gone down the shoot........lol

Dont know if there is phone service there or not, we have never been there. I didn't know if you were staying at a park or not, where you could leave the number with the family.
The camp ground is only 12 km's from Kenilworth, so i would say you would nearly be able to get Telstra 3G service there. BUT, I could be wrong! Hopefully someone on here will be able to tell you for sure.

Bunny,

The closest place where you will get coverage is Kenilworth. Its about 20 - 30 minutes from the campground.

You could ask at the ranger station (at the Sunday Creek Road turnoff on the way into the park from the east) if they would pass on an urgent message, but given how short staffed NPs are generally and the number of grounds around Charlie Moorland that they are responsible for, they may not be able to help in a timely way.

Good Luck

Ben

Hi

There is a public phone at Booloumba Creek Camping and day use area., and we have had reception at the top of the Mt Allan fire tower, but wouldn't like to guarentee it.... and its quite a walk. Have a look at the map on

Thanks to all you guys for your input. Much appreciated. We'll just hope that the new grandchild isn't in too much of a hurry.
