Barrington Tops swimming areas

Hi all,

We normally camp near the Allyn river and swim at the Ladies Well. But we are up for a change and are considering trying the Telegherry River. Does the river have a deep swimming hole, rope swings and waterfall/rapids, like at Ladies Well? Or will we be disappointed?

Which campsite is closest to the best swimming holes? Telleghary, Frying Pan Creek, Coachwood, Currawong?

I see there are a couple of bigger waterfalls in the area - Problem Creek Falls and Jerusalem Creek Falls. Is it possible to swim at the base of these falls? Or is it too dangerous/inaccessible?

We will be travelling in a group with some 2wd vehicles

thanks

Telegerry, Frying Pan and coachwood all have swimming holes, Telegerry has been closed for a while for repairs, both the falls are a climb/walk accessible but only small pound pools, 2wd access as long as it isn't too wet.

thanks for the quick reply. Is the river deep enough for kids inflatable boats or lilos? Are there any fast flowing/rapids sections? Or is it all pretty slow and still?

Ok for lilo's and little rubber boats, no real rapids but shallow in spots, if it has rained/is raining it gets going pretty well but more of the lazy slow flow.

ladies well is the best choice --- the others are only about knee deep /hip deep , would suggest this is the better place apart from the fact its pretty busy in summer time..

other than that -- head over to Stockton beach if your looking for a good spot to swim where your not totally surrounded by people as you can just drive on the beach and find a spot away from others ...

Yes Ladies Well is great, and maybe we are hoping too much trying to find something else like it in another location.

We have been to Stockton Beach a couple of times but the sand gets everywhere! :) Also we are travelling with 2wd on this trip, so its not an option

I am now looking at the Barrington River, near Gloucester. This seems to be a popular kayaking river so surely there must be some good rapids and perhaps a swimming hole somewhere.

There are plenty of other spots around....are they better than Ladies Well ??...don't know, but they are all on a river and here goes....in order of my personal preference ( maybe not others ?? )

Poleys Place.....Camp Cobark.....Bretti Reserve...Ferndale Park.....Cundle Flat Farm....Gloucester Tops Van Park ( very good camping area )....

Google a few and see what you think ??

Try (The Steps camping ground) at copeland right on the river .
Good swimming holes & small rapids for the kayaks.
Hot showers & flush toilets
