Well, Mick O, aka Mr Blog you have reached 100000 views on your blogs.

Well done, I can't begin to imagine just how much time goes into them.

Do you get an engraved cup or sumfink??

Cheers

Cheers Michael

I’m amazed myself that they’ve generated over 80,000 hits in the past 10 months or so. I’ve always kept a journal when I’ve travelled mind you I don’t think my first, compiled at age 10, will hit the Exploroz site any time soon. These are simply the journals I write for myself, as I have always done. While it takes a bit of commitment to sit down at the end of a long or hard day, it’s well worth it in the end. Also serves as a good reminder of all the holiday photos as well.

I started posting these as an alternative to creating a website as I had little time or understanding of how to build such a thing. Perhaps that’s a project for retirement when I hope to have a bit more spare time on my hands LOL. They really are an easy way to share your experiences and in a forum that is travel specific as well. It’s amazing how high the Exploroz posts/blogs/treks and places appear on a Google search list.

What I’m glad to see that there are many others now sharing their travel experiences as well. John and Val, Viv C, Equinox and quite a few more are all adding great experiences and knowledge to the site and drawing a lot of views as well (I’m constantly in awe of other peoples photographic prowess). I can hardly wait for David’s new member mapping system. I’ll be in even more strife for spending time on the computer.

In lieu of the mug, just send donations of diesel so I can get out and travel more.

I’ve enjoyed putting them together. Glad a few people like reading them.

Cheers. Mick

Agree to Mick , and while its great that others appreciate what is written , my main reason for writing things down is so that I have a record of what we did to-gether, and also as research for the next trip.

It doesn't seem so long ago now , but we now have our own GPS points and plots going back 15 years - so far that without notes , I have forgotten about them.

Robin, They always taught me that "a written note outlasts the longest memory" and over time, they are dead write (pardon the play on words).

If I had a dollar for everytime I've heard;

"I'm glad you've got an intrest but how about some interest in me"! I'd be a wealthy man Ha Ha. She's been threatening to get an E/O profile so we can communicate more. LOL

She's good on it mate and will be coming along for a month on next years trip. Have enrolled her in the TAFE course "Deisel Mechanics for Domestic Goddesses" and also one on tyre repair.

Cheers Pesty. Mick

Good pickup Michael I looked just the other day when it was around the 96 thousand mark and thought won't be to long before it hits the 100,000 view mark and it certainly "sneaked up" pretty quick. ;-)

Well done Mick and thanks for your efforts I have found your stuff to be very well written with a no bull$hit attitude and is not only a very entertaining read but an excellent way of assisting with future trip planning.
The addition of your new format videos really adds to the mix.

The fact that you seem to have well and truly outstripped the number of views compared to all other EO bloggers would appear that many others appear to agree with me?

Good one keep it up.

P.S.
Will arrange to email you a Jerry can of diesel as my contribution to your prize in lieu of an engraved cup or sumfink.
Or would you prefer a packet of Powdered Milk?? :-))

Thanks John.

As I said earlier, I’m amazed myself that they’ve generated so many views.

It’s amazing how high the Exploroz posts/blogs/treks and places appear on a Google search list. If you’re searching the more our of the way places, The Anna Plains Track, for example, they’ll appear top five. Normally, there’ll be an Exploroz page within the first 10 search results for most Australian travel related enquiries. I keep an eye on my entries them as I post or edit and they are averaging between 250-350 views per day and that has steadily increased from about 30 views 12 months back. John and Val are near 20,000 views now. It doesn't take long.

Seemed to be a bit of a flurry tonight. Didn't turn on till 6.15 and it was at 99940 then. I thought It might get there tomorrow or Wednesday. Thanks for the kind words and you can keep the bloody powdered milk.....I hate that stuff!

See you out there.

Mick

As already said by others Mick, goodonya! There are just over 500,000 total views, so 20% of them are yours! That's a very impressive score and it's going to be very hard to catch up!

We wrote our recent ones ((the entry point is here for anyone interested - yes help to push our score up! ) while on a 20,000 km 4 month trip following the wildflowers through WA, partly to keep family and immediate friends informed of our comings and goings. It's a great way of keeping it all together, and a very good way of refreshing the memories of the day. Does take a bit of work and to go smoothly requires better internet access than is usually available in a bush camp.

Keep up the good work Mick and we'll follow along at a reasonable distance.

Cheers

John

Cheers John.

I always travel with a small notebook jammed in the door pocket. Can take a few notes, gps points etc during the day. usually sit down after dinner and spend an hour with the laptop typing it out. A lot better than the old days of hand writing into an exercise book and "typing" it when I got back home. Does anybody even remember what an Olivetti or Facit is these days. I actually took a small typewriter on a trip with me once but the ribbons and keys got so jammed with dust...well.

Between laptops and digital photo's, things have improved no end. Thanks for the encouragement. Will look forward to you closing the gap.

Cheers Mick.

P.S. I forgot that David and Michelle have over 46,000 views on their pages and over 360 blog entries so I have some catching up to do myself.

Well done Mick..

A great effort - and agree with Michael, a lot of time invested..

I've even read some of your blogs twice..

Thanks for sharing them, as it is always good to read about how others achieve similar travel goals.

Thanks Al.

Hi Mazcan,

Comon mate- Pesty is right, he's working on that blog right now. Problem is, is that he has had so many problems with the Pootrol he simply has not had the time to complete it. :))
