Ok folks, not really OT, but kinda. Alot of people love there barra fishing and fishing in general, so i would just like to ask people to give me some thought to what they think is the biggest barra caught on line in Australia. I have seen a fair few 20-25kg fish, but none any bigger. I think the biggest caught was around 38kg at
Lake Tinaroo but not sure. Anyway the thing is, some people have claimed to have caught a 113kg barra near here, and i will post the pics when i get them, i have seen them but just cant believe it myself. Its unreal this fish. I know there are a alot of Photoshop pros out there, so when i post the pic have your say on if you think its real or not. I think it is real, but just cant believe the size of it. Surely something like this couldnt exist.
For now here is a big one caught not long ago, off
the wharf back home. I think it went 24kg.Image Could Not Be Found
Will post pics tonight when i get them on home email.

At one time the world record was caught in the
Norman River at
Normanton, Impoundments are not really counted I would say.
Cant remember he size but it was a monster. I will do a search!
Great fish :-) In Qld you have to throw them back....cheers

Agree with you there, only wild fish should be counted, and yes all fish over a metre definitely go back. No questions asked. On the lower Ord and Fitzroy rivers here, all fish over 800mm go back. Great rule, best eating are between 550mm and 800mm anyway.

Hey Hagrid. Thats a nile perch. check out the arm of one of the blokes helping on the rope. I reckon he might not be an Aussie.

Well then that solves that mystery i would say. I reckon its a Nile Perch also, cousin to the barra. That arm in the photo definitely looks like an african not an aboriginal.
