Hi. Somebody asked the question here last week about Koni Shockers.

I have a HDJ78 Troopy and have the stock toyota ones on still.

I have done some research on the net and can not find Koni shockers anywhere.

My question is - is there an internet site/dealer for this or do reputable suspension shops handle them?

Also - what do other HDJ78 drivers here run on their vehicles?

Thanks

Stock standard Toyota shockers.
Work well and cheap to replace if required.
After tens of thousands of Km's of outback driving never needed to replace one yet.
Have a look at the vehicles used by mines and stations etc all use the stock shocks.

Is the Australian distributer give them a call

I have had my Troopy HDJ78R 2003 from new, and replaced all 4 shock absorbers at 140000 km she now done 150000 km, as I decided it was time to carry some spares, so as in my Blog I went for genuine Toyota ones the same ones use on mines here in WA and on standard Toyota Troopy's all over the world. :-)

Cheers

There is a listing in the catalogue for HZJ 71-78-79 - they are the same as HDJ78.
The link for the Koni catalogue is
http://www.toperformance.com.au/catalogue_fs.html

I had the factory shocks on mine for 70,000 (they were good) then Old Man Emu for the next 60,000k. The OME were OK when new, but had gone pretty soft after lots of corrugated outback roads. Bought some Terrain Tamer shocks (Made by Cofap in Brazil) last month and they are nice and firm - will see how they last, but Koni might have been a better choice.

I have the Koni Raid series on my HZJ 105 combined with King springs, all fitted by Toperformance Suspension as listed in the link above and am very happy. They have done about 70k km now and are still working like new.

Whilst not cheap, I think they will outlast the OME's I had on the previous Disco. Ride is great and they don't heat up to ridiculous levels on corrugated roads, even with heavy loads....they are VERY big shock absorbers.

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Marco, I have a HDJ78 Troopy with Koni heavy track shocks at both ends and Parabolic leafs in the rear with King coils in the front. It lifted the vehicle about 50-60mm and gives a more comfortable ride, firm in the front and a bit more compliant in the rear than standard loaded and unloaded ( when unloaded only 2 leafs each side are working for normal use, when loaded the third much thicker leaf starts to take load and share the work,) we have done about 15,000kms since fitting on trips to the Pilbara- goldfields and have just returned from Uluru- Alice Springs via Great Central Road, Sandy Blight Junction, Mereenie etc etc. We have had Koni Shocks before on our GU Patrol and they performed well beyond my expectations over some really horrible roads and tracks, the set up on the Troopy is working very well so far, I feel they are worth the $, Hope this helps, cheers, Kanga1.
