Any feedback on Explorer fridges made in Brissy

Thinking of getting one of these babys as I like the idea of having separate fridge and freezer compartments individually controlled. Is there any good or bad experiences with them. Have contacted them and got all the specs etc and at face value they seem to be a beautiful thing.

Very small production..almost a 'back yard' operation..
BUT..a very good unit. Size for size, probably the most efficient unit available.
There are some 'tricks' in the evaporator plumbing that give the efficiency.
Unfortunately, a lot of punters are scared off by the price, but value for money it's the best unit available in the country.
It was, in fact, the first fridge to have "individually controlled' compartments, and, at that stage- all the large manufacturers couldn't work out how it was.
I think they still have the Danfoss compressors. Another box to tick.

Disclaimer....NO allegiance with the current manufacturer/ distributor.

Yes they are a little pricey but then you see what you get and how indestructable and well made they are and yes the duel control. I am not sure as yet if you can make it 2 freezers or 2 fridges or one of each by adjusting the duel thermostats. I was impressed by the fact that they have independent fridge and freezer. We have been on the road for 18 months with an old metal 39l engel and basically no freezer. They are a huge unit for the price.

Any ideas on what they are worth? Without calling them.

They look OK

I have one on order, a DC65. Expect it early November. Will post what experience I have with it. Planned to go on the tray.

The final selection came down to Explorer or Trailblaza. Both looked to have what I was after.

Hi Kirk and Jeanette

I have a 56lt, it sits on the tray, never gets turned off and hasn't missed a beat since 98.

I actually leave the freezer setting off and it still keeps everything in it frozen.

They are a tough, well built, reliable unit.

The only negative (IMO) is that they are a large fridge for the internal space you get and they are heavy compared to the fibreglass units.

It will fit on a slide on a draw system in a LC100 but it doesn't leave you much room for other stuff.

Hi Scott...
Yes, the Explorer does have large external specs..compared to internal space.
That's one of the benefits...that 'extra' space is insulation.
Sit your Explorer ( and a few other brands) out in the Qld sun for a few hours...and measure the power efficiency bewteen them !!
I can guarantee your Explorer will come out heaps ahead !!
