/miners_right.htm]Access still closed through Palmerville[/url]
There is still ongoing issues with access via Wrights
Creek Road. I have heard that
Cook Shire Council has finished with negotiations and it is now been passed on for a final decision to a government department (sorry forgot which one :-) )
This is more then a road off alignment issue, it is more that a road was put in place for access to mines that never was near a road reserve. Over the years it started getting used by all persons.
There is some mining court decisions that go into this in depth.
If you wish to go this way I strongly recommend that you phone the owner of Palmerville and ask. He may grant you access through this disputed area.
Below is copied from
Cook Shire Council Website. Cheers Tony

G'day Tony, Is the road from Whights
Creek to
Maytown via Dogleg croosing closed. I came tjhrought there in July and they were realigning the road from Adams Dam back to the highway. If this is the case how would get on if yiou came through from
Laura, would you have to turn and go back the way you came?
Regards Damien

Hello Damien - Hope you are both
well!
Yes the only Legal way to
Maytown at this time is from
Laura and then back along the Coach Road.
There is a good chance you will be allowed through if you pre arrange it with Mr Struber of Palmerville Station
We came through all the way, as you know earlier this year, did not see
road closed signs as we came North to South. When we got out to the Highway from Wrights
Creek Rd they had put a
Road Closed sign there.
Cheers Tony
