My husband recently heard about Lake Gregory in the Tanami and is now keen to incorporate it in a trip. After rain, the Lake is apparently a bird paradise. Geographically, it is not far from Wolfe Creek Crater and near Mulan Aboriginal Mission but we don't know if it is actually on Aboriginal lands. Basically, we would appreciate any information particularly whether or not there is vehicular access.

Thanks Rick, that's where hubby heard about it and know he's inspired to go there himself. He only finished the book yesterday and I've been dying to get my hands on it.

Lake Gregory is on the top section of the Canning Stock route.
You have to drive around the lake. You can approach from Tanami Rd Balgo Community and then Mulan Community or from well 51 from the south.

It is the lake that flooded and closed the top of the CSR for a year or two.

Just looking at the Hema NW sheet and there is a campsite about 11 km south of Mulan. The map also says to contact Billiluna re bush camping, but Mulan is closer. The permit section on this site also has the contact numbers for permits.Bob

Thanks Bob, tried to buy this map yesterday but couldn't get it. Looks like I'll have to order it.
