DSE has published their track closures for 2009-2010 on the 5 Oct 09. WE have just 6 weeks to comment on these proposals. To see what they are proposing and its lots of tracks in lots of areas if you read the document the way I do. Go to www.dse.vic.gov.au and in the search facility type in track closures. A heap of documents will come up. At least one for each region. WE are interested in the NE region where tracks in Mt Dissapointment, the triangle in Marysville, some around rUbicon the strathboggies and lots more. You only have a short time left 3 weeks to comment and if noone puts in submissions they will close the tracks. An interesting point in much of the document "all roads on this map will stay open" In the document "Tracks are not designated roads for DSE and serve no operational purpose " this means to me they intend to close lots of tracks to EVERYONE drivers in general, 4WDrivers , motor cyclists, horse riders, push bike riders, walkers and picnicers. PLEASE have a read and put in a submission and ring and tell 4WDVic as
well.
previous experience seems to indicate that tracks are closed because not many people objected and DSE want to do it anyway but at least we can try
Thanks

I get this: East Gippsland Area - Proposed DSE Road and Single-Track Closures
There are no proposed road and single-track closures out for public consultation at present.

isn't there a distinction between tracks and roads?
a number of tracks in the SF's you list are not legal roads and if caught using them before the fires you risked getting fined anyway,
maybe l'm missing something

Thanks Phillip
I note the maps show what remains open , not what will be closed which makes it harder to work out.
Will certainly be writing in over some of this , but then thats the organization mainly responsible for not-managing the forrests in the major area hit by Victorias fires just a few months ago , and the Royal commisson submissions show a constant failure by them to even complete the meagre fire reduction stratergies they were tasked with.
