Has anyone had or knows of anyone who can recommend these fridges. I am looking at getting a 60L and with all the fridge debates they are mostly Engel,Waeco etc. I like the Trailblazer 60L but the external size is pretty Big.
The Nat Luna is smaller and has the Danfross Compressor as
well.
Any comments welcomed.
Thanks

Doubt there are any bad fridges on the market. The National Luna is one of the more expensive fridges around. No personal experience of them but they seem
well regarded.
Re the Trailblaza I checked them out recently and just picked up the brochure before writing this. There are at least 4 fridges of 60 litre in their range. Each varies in outside dimensions and insulation varies as
well. Some have 75 mm and some 125 mm.
Trailblaza is at

National Luna is at

This might only be telling what you already know but may be of some interest to others who read the thread.

As Flynnie says its unlikely there are any truly crappy fridges around, with the exception of some of those no-name ones for sale on egay at the moment. At the end of it all, it comes down to personal preference, what works for you and your setup, and of course, cost.

we have the 52Lt national Luna, had it for about 18 months now and think its great. We spent a while looking at all the options but the setup/size of this one was spot on for us. Probably a little more expensive than the next fridge
Handled 4 weeks along the
Gibb River road earlier this year without a drama. I cant quote you current draw vs other brands but we had no dramas parked up for 3 days.
I think they are built a lot tougher than other brands getting around and it makes a great spare
seat.

Hi Cruiser,
We have a National Luna 50 litre (40 litre fridge 10 litre freezer) and have used it for some 2 years mostly on trips to the Western Deserts.
Haven't had any problems and are delighted with the 10 litre freezer. Whilst it sounds small it’s amazing how many frozen items you can stack in there.
The other benefit is that it has almost the same footprint as our previous fridge a 40 litre Engel so it doesn't take any more space.
Cheers

I have a 73l National Luna dual compartment and love it. The build quality is fantastic and it uses less power than my old 50l Waeco. The insulation is superior to the main two brands and it shows in power use. They do some smarts with the electronics to make the fridge efficient. For example, when it see that you are charging the battery it goes to full speed ( turbo mode in waeco terminology) and then goes back to normal when stopped.
Also you can remove the lids.
Big bucks but I am very happy.

Get your hands on 4WD Action Magazine (No. 136). It has a "Mega Frig Comparo" and the Nat Luna is one of them. Excellent Build Quality and Highly Recommended are concluding comments for this frig. Mfr in South Africa.

If i remember The National Luna was designed to transport meds around Africa, it or the Trailblazer usually come up trumps in the 12v real world...

Robertbruce is correct. The National Luna is made in Southt Africa and was designed for UNICEF and the medics who work in the ardous conditons on the African continent, especially Ethiopia. Although they are a lot more expensive than other brands, they stack up
well against the Waeco`s and Engle` of the world. It all boils down to personal preference and how deep your wallet is.
