G'day,

I need a new set of 4WD tyres and have come across these Electra Ironman PM66 tyres at a VERY good price. But I've never heard of them before yet they look like BF Goodrich AT tyres.

Does anyone have any experience of them - good or bad - and know an indicative new price.

Thanks.

Pete

I had to replace a tyre on the camper while I was in Cairns. I went to a second hand tyre place I knew of but they didn't have one to suit, so I was sold one of these tyres.

They look ok, and with only 4000k on it so far so good. In fact I'm now looking for a dealer in the ACT (arrived back home last night, after 3 months away) to get another 4.

I have had a set on my ute for 10 mths and 60,000km

They feather quite badly. I run 32psi in the front and 24psi in the rear all the time and our other work utes are running the normal 40psi pressure and are alot worse than mine and they only have around the 30,000km mark.
We will not be buying anymore of these.

Yes I know that feathing is usually related to shocks but they feather on the rear rigid axle too and these vehicles are only 1-2 years old.Image Could Not Be Found

I will get another 20,000km out of them (if they don't fall to pieces first)

I saw an 80 series cruiser with a wider set of them on the weekend and they were feathering as well.

Cheers

I am on my second set of these tyres on My Navara. The first set (they were called Hercules then) where the 2nd set on the vehicle at 40,000 kms and they where replaced at 138,000kms. Amazing mileage...... The second set have now done 27000 kms with no problems. They probably arent the best handling or quietest tyre on the road, but for what you pay for them. (the first lot where about $140 and the 2nd $170) and being an LT Tyre, in my view are excellent value...

Oh, forgot to mention, I run 40 psi in mine and do about 90% bitumen around town driving and 10% bush tracks.

I bought hercules in Brisbane recently- can you pls explain (if you know) the connection between the two? I'm running the hercules terra trac MT LT's at the moment and will be wanting some more once these are run out. For the money I can't find anything like them. 40-50k out of a mudder for $160 fitted has got to be great value.
