Being dedicated grandparents, we are looking at a caravan holiday with our adult children &
young grandchildren (2 & 3 yo plus a baby). We are planning to go early March or after school holidays in mid April 2010 to northern NSW for a few weeks. Last time we were up there was about 25-30 years ago and had some great holidays at Split Solitary caravan
park just north of
Coffs Harbour. I see the caravan
park is still operating so am looking for advice on what it is like now. We are also interested in reports on
South West Rocks & the writeup on
Darlington Beach Holiday
Park at
Arrawarra also looks good. Any other ideas would also be appreciated. A playground & pool are probably the main requirements and do not want to be on main roads with traffic noise. Is the weather in late April still warm enough for Victorians to enjoy the sun? Wife & I mainly go and check out
places before staying but this time we will probably need to book beforehand so we are sure of getting in somewhere with the
young ones.

Thanks for the link. I have seen this site before but completely forgot about it. It is very useful for reports on caravan parks and appreciate the reminder about it.

Hi Jolo,
Would definitely recommend
Darlington Beach Holiday
Park. You can contact them online to book.
Whether it be just for you guys or a
young family. We spent a couple of nights there in June, 2 adults, 3 children under 11, we met a lot of Mexicans around the fire. they loved the place and a lot had been there before and come each year out of holiday season. Depending on which way the wind blows you may hear H/wy noise. Not that it worried us.
Coffs it only just down the road, just north of coffs, about 2-3 k's take a road on the western side of the H/wy called Bruxner
park rd, at the top of the big
hill take a turn to the left, Scenic Dr. This will take you to a
lookout that over looks the city.
Also take a trip up to
Glenreigh on the Orara Way, the back way from Coffs to
Grafton, and visit the
Glenreagh Mountain Railway
Hope this helps some, enjoy you visit to the area.

I can recommend the Blue Dolphin c/
park at Yamba. When our kids where
young yesterday!, we would always stop here each year, for a week or 2.We would ensure that we had an ensuite site which made life easier with the kids for mum and it also was like having a garden shed to store some stuff. The
park facillities are great for the kids [big pool little pool slides play equipment etc] and they provide activities for children as
well.Positioned nicely on the river front. The negative is that it usually requires you to apply for a loan to fund the stay.Kids loved the place when we stayed there so i guess it was worth the expense.

Im in the Big4 C/P at Palmers Island just out of Yamba. One of the quietest parks I've stayed in.
It's at the end of a long one way road through some canefields so no traffic at all after dark unless it is a
park patron.
Has a playground for the kids, swimming pool that is only 1 metre deep, jumping pillow and concrete paths everywhere. Great for kids and small bikes.
10 minute drive from the lovely beaches at Yamba.
$27.00 a night powered site including my two teenagers. :)
Large grassy/slab sites in natural setting, wildlife visit the
park too. Apparently the occasional snake and goanna but the staff can handle them if they show up.Keep those critters in mind if you've little ones in tow.
Very recommended place.

Park every xmas......this place is just made for people with kids, with a large
lagoon so they can safely play away from the main beach area.we would absolutely recommend this place, cheers.
