CREATIVE CARAVANS - TRACKVAN TOURX

Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about the Trackvan TourX (made by Creative Caravans)?

Creative have built themselves a pretty good reputation, but don't forget to look at a few other well known brands for a quality and price comparison.

I do not know about Tourx but I had a Creative 20 foot tandem on road van - no ensuite custom built about 3 years ago.
I dealt directly with the manufacturer. Van was good value at that time being $5k under the market at $29k. Reasonable inclusions and popular brand componentry used.

On delivery there were quite a number of defects mostly cosmetic but a couple of silly errors together with poor detailing and presentation/cleanliness was below my expectations. There were several thousand dollars of rectifications done by a third party caravan repairer to get it right including water sealing several areas. Creative eventually compensated me for same. In spite of my frustration with that experience, I almost had Creative build me another Van [based on dollar savings] but would have applied some encouragement to get finish right first time round. Have now arranged custom build 24 footer elsewhere.

I feel Creative have experienced the pressure of a new start business and at that time lacked the production controls needed to consistently deliver a reasonable quality van.

A mate bought a similar Creative van to mine but with ensuite about 18 months ago and whilst there were a couple of faults after leaving factory they were rectified before delivery by country dealer, mate is reasonably happy with overall result.

I suspect there are quite a number of buyers that are satisfied or even very happy with their Creative Van [Badged Grant Tourer in some cases] and I am also aware of a couple of folk that were a year or two back less than happy with Creative finish, but that seems a common theme with a number of the van manufacturers.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for that. You are right on costing of the van it is at a price we can afford with everything we want and about $8k cheaper than the next van we like. I did have a look over the van yesterday and was quite happy with it. Again like you was not to sure on how cupboards were manufactured and also some cosmetic issues. The dealer did mention that they had problems early in the piece with the windows leaking but said that had now been rectified. We are also looking at the Majestic Knight do you know of anyone that has one ?
