Hi All, I was just wondering if anyone would take a Mitisbishi Outlander over to Fraser Island?? We have a patrol and our friends have the outlander and they were planning on going over in Jan. We are heading to Fraser in 1 1/2 weeks and can't wait. But not too sure how their vehicle would go over there. If it was me, I don't think I would. Just not sure of their vehicles capability. Thanks Katrina

It will go just as
well as the big heavy vehicles in the sand. I have had a late 70s subaru all over Fraser no problems.

I'd get them on
the beach early at
Rainbow and run up that way to the barge to miss the churned up section at Inskip.
Don't overload it, let the tyres down heaps (18 to start with) and it will go fine.
I saw a couple a softies lose their rear skirts on the
hill behind kingfisher not long ago, but it is pretty chopped out.
Take a small rated shackle (I think 4.5t does it) to fit through the front screw in tow eye if they need a gentle tug with the patrol and a snatch strap.
If these's not a lot of rain about in January the sand can get a bit powdery with the heat.

It'll be fine. Maybe take some care north of
Indian head depending on how much rain there's been. But provided you get through the
Indian head bypass you'll be ok up to
Champagne pools and maybe don't need to go further.
As said by someone else, drop onto
the beach just north of
Rainbow beach to avoid the soft stuff at Inskip, perhaps (assuming you get there at low tide).

Definitely go, just let tyres down to 18psi.
I have seen heaps of territory and x-trail etc on Fraser.
Good Luck

Peter, were you guys in Caloundra just the other day? If so that was me waving to you at the lights, I was in the Patrol with the roffrack full of lights. If not there is someone else with a similar motorhome to you guys scratching their heads saying who the %$@@ was that hehehe.
Cheers, Trevor.

Trevor, that was us....saw you! We have friends at Golden Beach.
Signman, yes, know about it, but not been back recently.
John, it was Friday 16th October that we saw the lady in the CRV bogged on Fraser near
Lake Birrabeen. She was not intimidated one bit.....just a little embarrassed.
Cheers,
Peter
