Heya Folks
Just wondering if anyone has used a small portable room aircon in a caravan? I have an Arlec PA-9000 which has been used in a big room with poor insulation at home and, while not perfect, runs remarkably
well. In a smaller insulated area like the van, should work much better
I see no reason why it wouldn't work in the van. Sure, it's bulky, and needs to be put somewhere, and needs an external duct (which is simple enough), needs draining, and a whole lot of other negatives... However, it's also cheap, and when you don't need it, you don't take it. It should also run on a much smaller generator than the min 2000W Honda, or 2500W everything else, that most van aircons seem to need.
I don't need info on caravan air con units...got plenty of that, both positive and negative. Just wondered if anyone uses the portables, thanks.
Cheers,
Scott

Hi I have a coromal 380 wind up off roader with canvas sides and i bought a protable refrigerated air con. Works a treat. When i first turned the air on it was reading 45c and within 1 hour it was 23c. I hunted around and found the smallest dimensions with the biggest cooling capasity. Got
mine from The Good Guys in SA. Arlec 45000BTU I think. Was like $459.00 on special
cheap as
cheers

Thanks guys. I think I'll be trying it this way for a while and, if it isn't 100%, can always change later. At least don't need to lug around a heavy unit in cold winter months!
