Hi all,
I have this noise that I find only happens when I take off from a stand still I get to around 1200 RPM and I feel a knock ,I thought it was the clutch and had the pros look at it as I thought it has a shudder and it might be the clutch grabbing but its is not always there ,anyway the pros said it was a mystery and sent me to another mob that build gearboxes and diffs and once again they were baffled and said they had never come across it before ,the guy suggested to check out the bushes on the front but I just did the 6 front radius arm bushes as well as my lower rear control arm and front and rear pan hards which only leave the upper rear control arms to do ,we also checked the unis and they seemed OK as well ,well Im at a loss again and I just thought I would pick any of your brains as it might have been something that has happened before .

Cheers and thanks for reading my rant :)

Hi John. There is quite a bit of info on the Lcool forum. The problem is usually to do with the rear tailshaft. Regards,Bob.

Gday Phil
I mentioned engine mounts not long back for a vehicle with a knock after take off. I was told that i didn't know what i was talking about.
It's nice to see another that checks engine mounts .

The 100 series is renowned for clutch shudder which generally means the fly wheel needs machining and a new clutch.

Hi,

You will probably find that the slip joint for the rear requires greasing.

Check the tightness of your spare wheel. With the motor running abd bonnet up, have a driver let the clutch out and watch how much the motor lifts/look at engine mounts, it is uncommon for one to rip, but if it is, you wont see it any other way.

Hi Jonny Boy

check the heater pipe behind the engine running along the firewall. If it drops a little the plastic shroud on the tappet cover touches it and the sound echoes in the cabin - sounds like big ends gone. It happened to me.
