Nasty toilet problem

For the second time we have had to travel without being able to empty the toilet cassette (having been in a national park).

Unfortunately we had the bad experience of leakage into the shower/toilet of the fluid. We are unsure whether this may have come from the cassette being put back incorrectly, somehow the slide lid not closing properly, or even if some seals have gone.

Would anyone have had a similar experience - hope you haven't, but would like to hear of anyone with expereince/ideas of what our problem might be.

Thanks.

Bunny we hired a camper van in NZ and had a problem with a leak I put it down to me not putting the console back in properly and the cover slide back in properly . Also had a bit of sloshing from the winding roads.

If you use Odour-B-Gone tablets instead of liquid chemicals, then you can empty them in a long drop.

Invested 32 minutes to learn about the gentlemans story. Thanks for the link I am indeed happy I clicked, it was not just the long drop but also the follow on that which is sobering. Aint we got it easy.

Hi Bunny

We recently had the same problem, there must have been a bit of loo paper in the slide and we had a little leak on the loo floor.

Cheers

Thanks to everyone for their input.....we suspected that it might be the slide lid problem or perhaps the lid not on tightly enough, and this seems a distinct possibility.

We were hoping it wasn't a seal problem

Thanks again

cant see why you couldnt find an outa the way spot, dig a deep hole, and empty it, nat park or not, even a roadside with a bit of scrub, better than having spillage.

I'm curious now...would it be normal practice for everyone to empty cassettes before travel....i.e. what if you are moving on each day. We found that it was necessary for about 3 days and would then empty. Basically had not problems while travelling, apart from these two times.
