I may need to have a bullbar sent by truck and was wondering what to use to wrap it so it doesn't get damaged in transit. Unfortunately I have nothing in the shed that I can use. Naturally I wish to do this as cheaply as possible.
Thanks in advance from the Moose

Get some empty (strong & thick) cartons/boxes and cut to size... that is cut to fit each section of the bar. Wrap around (tube like) at least 3 times and tape with packing tape. Then cut shaped pieces to fit over the awkward areas and tape them to the rest of the covering. Worked for me. The transport company then just layed it flat on a pallet. Bit of mucking around but it works.

Fred, best to wrap in plastic first, then the cardboard, the carboard will mark powder coating and paint if applied first. Michael

You could also get some bubble wrap and wrap around all sections of the bar for protection, then encase it in a heavy cardboard box made to suit and then fill it with foam beads for extra protection and tape it
well with the good old Gaffa or Husky tape.
Maybe a ARB, TJM or Bull bar
shop may have a unused cardboard box that you could recycle.

Ask a local 4WD store for a bull bar box, they only throw them out.

G'day Moose
When i worked in a wrecking yard we used to tape some cardboard around any sharp areas, edges etc...and then i would go to the local
supermarket and by a few rolls of the cheapest glad wrap i could find and wrap the object in that...several layers of course...worked a treat and the transport company's loved it.....

Hi, A good place to get big cartons is from your local motorcycle dealer and usually you can get some of the blue strapping to use as
well. as they have said wrap it in bubble wrap or gladwrap first,
Cheers Des.

Hi Moose,
Can't see where you are from but if your in
Brisbane I can give you a bull bar box , as others have said, we only throw them out. On that note any ARB
supplier can do the same.
Cheers . Teza
