Hello, next March (2010) my wife and l are planning on driving from
Melbourne to
Exmouth. We are driving and F350 and towing an 8 meter boat. I have never driven this route or distance before and would like to know if there are any resources that would allow me to plan this trip from a fuel, accommodation (given the overall length of truck / boat ) and safety perspective. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Genesis, going West it is almost guaranteed that you will be driving in to a head wind for at least some of the time. After leaving
Port Augusta fuel starts getting expensive. Fuel stops I would recommend to minimise the pain to your wallet,
Port Augusta,
Ceduna,
Mundrabilla,
Norseman. Accommodation is good at
Eucla, Cocklebiddy and Balladonia, not sure about other spots. Chuck a jerry can in the back as emergency reserve only, for that "thought I could get to the next town, but this head wind cropped up". Pack the golf clubs, and play the Nullarbor links, I am not much of a golfer but am planning on buying a second hand set, just to say I have done so.
Cheers
Snowy

Fuel at
Mundrabilla nd
Eucla were the same price earlier this year. They were the cheapest across the Nullabor also. We stayed at Yardie Station next to the Nat park and not too far from the
boat ramp on
Ningaloo Reef
