G'Day,
I have a 2004 NP Pajero and have recently purchased a Kimberly Kamper with an unladen weight of 800kg.
I noticed on a recent trout fishing trip that I seem to spend a lots of time in 3rd gear. On the basis that next year I plan to travel fairly extensively in the NT that I should possibly consider installing a CHIP in order to improve the overall performance of the Pajero. The DPCHIP manufacturers claim that their chip will produce up to 35% more power and torque and 10% better fuel economy.
Has any Pajero owners tried this CHIP and if so I would appreciate your comments.
Thanks
Regards
Richard

I have a non-turbo diesel hilux and posted the results up here a year or so ago, my chip got me a good 10 - 12.5% increase in the 2 k - 3k rev range which i thought was worth it. If you got a turbo it the specs apparently go up much higher. It did not reduce my fuel economy.

Plate off the EGR first. You might be surprised at the difference it will make to the DID.

EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation
It's part of emission controls and recirculates some of the exhaust gases back into the inlet on the engine. It is actually illegal to block it off.

I have worked on and therefore driven a number of pajeros fitted with the dp chip and while i cannot quote actual figures the drivability and extra power is definetly noticeable.Economy is relevant to the use off the right foot.
