Magellan Meridian or SporTrak ? Which one ?

Hi,
Does anyone know if I should buy the Meridian seiries or the SporTrak series GPS ? What are the pros and cons between them ? Which one is more versatile ?
Any experience to share with me will be greatly appreciated.

I use a Platinum with DiscoverAus streets and tracks. The screen can be hard to see if you are not looking square on. It could be worth checking the colour screens

I had to make the same decision earlier this year and chose the Meridian, mostly because it can use SD cards to store maps. When I bought Discover Aus Streets and Tracks I thanked my lucky stars I didn't choose the Sportrak with its limited internal memory.
The only advantage the Sportrak has is its smaller size.

Thanks a lot. I didn't know SporTrak can't take SD cards. No wonder I seldom hear about people in this
forum talk about SporTrak.

I use a Magellan Meridian mounted on the dash in the Magellan bracket and coupled to a Toshiba Laptop in the rear and a 14inch LCD screen mounted on a bracket I made myself.This fits very
well in front of the passenger(navigator,wife,
cook etc)and turns for me to see if need be. Running Dicoveraus via the laptop CD it is perfect but with Discoveraus on the SD card in the GPS it has a terrible lag and Magellan are not interested in fixing it, no matter what they say.Check out the Magellan users group on Yahoo before you buy Discoveraus.(posts from last couple of months)
