Some 4 years ago purchased 2 fold up chairs similar to the ones sold by Bun….ings for $9.95 (ie the ones that you put into a carry bag). but more heavy duty and costing $39.95, one chair broke a black plastic foot after 2 years, so replaced them (2) with heavier duty, the best available from a national
camping shop at $59.95 each we have used them for around 20 times and now have a foot broken and now out of warranty. I am 80Kg the wife 75KG so do not believe it’s a weight problem.
Anyone know where these Feet are available.
Thanks
Peter

Peter I don't think it's a weight problem as the same thing happened to my wife and me at a concert. Same side foot broke on both our chairs at the concert.
Chairs were 2 years old and only used at the Leeuwin concerts.
Replacement feet are available from
camping stores.

Peter,
I've got a $9.95 Bunnings beauty that's lasted since 2005. Since I'm closer to 100kg than 90kgs I'd say weight has nothing to do with your problems.
So much for the ' you only get what you pay for ' brigade.
Regards

Generally, any plastic exposed to UV that has not been treated to withstand such exposure will eventually fail. I have learned over many years NOT to have any outdoor seating that contains plastic. Just to dangerous if any collapse with person seated on them.

Accept when in use around the
camp fire atnight the chairs were kept in their carry bags, do not think it was a UV problem.

Hi
What brand is marked on the chair? Nearly all fiull size chairs we sell in the
camping area are rated at 110 kg but bear in mind that is on flat level ground where the weight is evenly distributed. If it has a brand and name, as in style I
may be able to help.
Cheers Teza

Teza,
The Brand is Spinifex and the model King's
Creek Chair, made bu a company associated with Ann a conda. If it had still been under warranty they would have replaced it.
I admit I have a hang up in that I think husband and wife should have the same type of chairs around the campfire unless a medical condition comes in between.
The foot is about double the diameter of the Bunn ings chair ie 72mm and the chair rods 20mm.
Teza if you have such a foot please email me at PeterinSa@yahoo.com.au
Thanks
Peter

why not have a crack at making one? If its a Carrabee Brand you can get replacement feet for them. Like you i broke one and it was not replaceable but with a bit of time, thinking you can actually make one. You may be able to find another buggered one and rob the feet off that.

I reckon one of the most dumped items at bush
camp sites is the type of folding chair you're talking about, they are everywhere and I have robbed bits off them to extend the life of
mine (Carribee without arms) LOL

Madcow,
As a last resort only will glue up the old foot make a mould out of Plaster Paris and fill wilh epoxy., on the basis that if it works will do the same for the next foot breakage.

racinrob,
The only chairs I have seen in the bush are the Bunn ings style of chair and their feet will not fit my chairs

It sounds like it is worth having a go at. It is a real pain when they fail especially at the start of a long trip and the chair is not worth throwing away due to its value and comfort. Been down that road before. i made my replacment out of stainless steel. A bit over the top i know but i had the time and access to the relevant pices of offcuts laying around. It would have been cheaper to buy a new chair! Why they do not make them out of alloy is beyond me if your prepared to pay for them in the purchase price!
