Hey... if you google Garmin software, you will come up with loads of places that sell the software, alot sell on the cards already.

The downloaded software that I found was not from...the best sources. But I know there are many legit software download places.

We got ours from Johnny Appleseed, and they had loads of software and seem quite helpful. I'd ring them or JB Hifi or Supercheap or any of the bigger retailers.

the 60Csx doesn't have an internal hard drive so you won't be able to load any maps into it,

It could have world wide base maps or an Australian base map which won't show you much

Buy yourself a 2Gb mircoSd card and then download Shonkymaps, and OSM

Hi Bruce
Firstly you have purchases a top hand held GPS, I have this same model, they are great and very user friendly.

Firstly the micro sd card is only for extra maps like the Garmin Topo Australia or Shonky Maps and do not come as standard when you buy the unit.

Did you buy the unit here in Australia or did it come from overseas - like buying it from eBay?. Australian units still have a very basic map set up. If you have no map of Australia when zoomed right out, it sounds like an overseas unit.

I will get their 1800 phone number from work and post it here tonight when I get home from work.

Cheers

Stephen

I got an ebay unit 18 months ago and the base map is of the world (ie. including Australia) with some detail

I loaded Shonky and went to a number of websites (including here) for Points of Interest to load

Also bought OziExplorer and NatMpas

Does mostly what I need without having to purchase anything else.

Hi Fence,
are you using "mapsource" to transfer your map files to the GPS?

thank u all for the info. I bought the unit from Pally Paddin ,ringwood vic.Took it back an the manager explained all. salesman didnt know obout the extra card.Initial cost was $450..Unfortunatelly cost me an extra b$200l; but now got all maps .I am a little "peeved" for want of better word, as the screen is cluttered , ie top half covered with non pertinant info when u look at map.No doubt "my wife will figure out how to get rid of it.However if someone has the answer would make my life easier.
thank you again. bruce.

- push MENU on the map page, select DATA FIELDS..., select MAP ONLY.

You can also change whether the fields display whilst navigating by selecting the GUIDANCE TEXT... option in the map menu. Select the desired option.

Hope that helps.
