Earlier IFS models where prone to cracking around a major suspension component and may of been subject to recal , I think the fault was rectified by '05 but it something you may wish to follow up on.

There where a number of other recall also applicable to 100series, such as brake caliper bolts, and wiring loom under the dash board.
I have an late '05 (upgraded model) but has live axle and has had both recal's done but I'm a bit grey on IFS models (that one will be 'cos it's a V8).

People harp on about the front control arm problem.

This occured about 2002 and was limited to certain vin numbers when a Robot welder had a hissy fit for a short time.

2005 models including yours and mine are fine.
There should be two recall stickers on the pillar when u open drivers door.

One is for the wiring loom above the brake pedal and one is for front rotor bolts.

If the car has had Toyota services they should have been done at that time.

Only prob you will have is keeping hand in pocket for fuel if towing.

LOL Go the diesels

Damo, the Update 100 Series is supposed to be from September 05, but I guess there can always be a hangover from that date, with some cars sold afterwards. I agree with Graham on the diesel/petrol issue. Ready to pull your wallet out often.

Check which version of maps are in the navigator The newest version 15 I think is over $400 from Toyotasan.

The update model didnt alter much LED Tail lights was the most obvious one.

If towing its advisable to fit Polyairs to counteract the self levelling suspension

Have heard of injectors playing up a bit.

Have a look on Lcool which you have to join to read.

Piston slap, and bottom end problems have occured with some, listen to it very carefully on cold start up whilst idling, then check oil pressure on idle after a good run.

Cheers Axle.

My wifes 1998 Model GXV V8 has done 290,000kms and still drives beautifully, although she has a 200 series now. The engines are brilliant. I doubt a Sahara has been used heavily off road so if you get the vehicle checked before purchase you will have yourself a nice car. With the GXV we had to replace the ECU which was $2k apart from that nothing ever went wrong apart from globes here and there. They are very well made and very reliable.

That was some good klm's for a car that still drives beautifully. I bet the 200 series is nice.

Thanks; for the info
