G'day - we have had our Bushman 2 way fridge for about 5 years - never let us down until recently - it ran the battery down and we couln't understand why, as we were putting power back in continuously from the solar panels, and had heaps of sun power. Anyway what we have discovered is that it running on all the time - not going back to its usual "sit"mode - as we are travelling this is a bit of a dilemma - we have been using it as a freezer. We feel it is the thermostat, and are taking it to a recommended repairer tomorrow - we only twigged to the problem when we were camped in a national
park, extremely quiet, and we could hear it just running on. Luckily we didn't lose any food, still had the little freezer in the van as back up. Anyone else had this happen?

Hi, Jules
I've got a Bushman of about the same vintage and (touch wood) no issues so far.
It does use a pair of AA batteries to control the thermostat. This is completely separate to the power required to run the fridge.
This may be a dumb question but have you checked/changed these?
Steve

Hi Jules
The batteries are located right next to the lcd temperature display. I find
mine only last a year or so (alkaline). The lid to the batteries is similar to that found on tv remotes etc.

Hi Julie
Do you check the set temperature every time you turn the bushman on. I sometimes find
mine has reset itself to -18 so always check it every time I turn the fridge on. Im not sure if that is because the batteries are getting low.

Hi Julie.
Good luck with the
Burleigh Heads repairer. My mate's fridge is still under warranty & it is going back for the third time,
Cheers.
