Caravan 12 volt lights

Hi - does anyone know what the fitted lights in caravans draw in power run on 12 volt? We have a 1 amp light that we use, but out of interest we would like to know re the van lights. thanks

What sort of bulbs are they? Take one out and look at the power rating. Most have the watt (W) rating on them.

There is no standard for 12V caravan lamps, because there are many different types of globe in use.

Globes may be tungsten filament (old type), Flouro, or LED.

Power use is greatest in tungsten and least in LED's.

If you can read the wattage on all the globes, total them up and divide that number by 12.

The resulting figure is a reasonable estimate of the amperage draw on your vans power source .

Hi Jules

This little device plugs into a standard blade fuse. If you can find the fuse box just remove the fuse for the lights, plug this in and you can check what the lights use as they switch on.
