Nope,
You will need a Blue Slip to do the rego transfer, make sure you get it weighed prior to the Blue Slip..
All here, just click the link

When you get it weighed be prepared to remove as much "stuff" as you can to get it back to the correct weight. A friend recently went through the same exercise and at the first weigh in it weighed more than its GTM without any of his gear in it. He spent a few days removing accessories and things like batteries etc to get it back under its complianced weight as per the plate on the drawbar.
The problem still remained that he couldn't legally tow it as it was overweight, currently in discussions with the selling dealer in Victoria.

Thanks for the replies & the RTA Link..
Seems strange that it's so different from state to state.
I used the RTA rego calculator & stamp duty was over $1000 ..
Looks like it's going to be more hassle than it's worth going through blue slip etc, will look for something in NSW instead.

We went through the exercise with a car for my son years ago, he was basically given the car but it took all of the 3 months rego it had left to get a revs certificate from victoria, blue slip here along with numerous days spent running around between RTA and blue slip people. I vowed then that I'd never get another vehicle from interstate.
Bad enough handing over the stamp duty and fees to change it into your name without all the other hassle.

bought a car in Qld and took to WA.
was unbelievably simple and saved around $3K in stampduty. Cost $56 to inspect it, refund of Qld rego in a couple of weeks and thats it.

I have just been through this with a camper trailer, I purchased it in Victoria on Friday and registered it in New South Wales yesterday.
The owner let me drive it
home on his plates and I will be mailing them
home today, otherwise if you buy it unregistered you will need a permit from vicroads, you cannot get an RTA one because you need a pink slip first (a little hard since the van is in Vic!).
I got a blue slip from a mechanical workshop, I did not need to get it weighed because the Tare weight was on the compliance plate, I was told if it was not I would need to have it weighed.
All I needed to register it was the blue slip and a reciept from the seller, plus my drivers licence and a wad of ca$h.
There is no longer any stamp duty on campervans and caravans in NSW.
The biggest cost is the road tax which is based on the weight.
The camper trailer I bought costs $35 to register in Victoria and over $250 in NSW.
