Does anyone know what the difference is between 'CF' & 'CDF' when referring to WAECO products ?
Yes, I have asked an agent and he thought it had something to do with DC current !
Thanks, KK

You could go to the Waeco website & check the specs of the 2 different models.

Hi Shaker,
I can not find any indication as to what the difference is. Some models have different warranty periods, some come with temp gauge, some with direct input 230 volt etc.

From what I can see after a quick look myself, is that the CF models have the troublesome electronic touchpad, whereas the CDF has the manual slide control.

Looks like the CDF models have a different compressor. From one ebay auction:
"The difference being that it (CDF-18) does not use the Danfoss BD35F compressor, replacing this with a similar specification Waeco branded compressor with integrated control electronics. This change of compressor enables the price saving on the original CF-18 and ensures that this CDF-18 model will become the entry level compressor coolbox model from Waeco and is extremely good value."
The CDF models have a 2 year warranty on the Kompressor whereas the CF models have a 5 year warranty, which would back up that statement.

Thanks Andrew,
More info makes it easier to see the big picture. I think the CDF-11 is the new entry level rather then the CDF-18. If I can get a 5 year warranty that would be better then two years.

After looking at Waeco site it apears some models that have 2Yr warranty use a Wanbao compressor from China. When looking at Wanbao site not much info except they aparently are in aventure with Japanese manufacturers Panasonic & Hitachi. Does this mean they will be using Chinese compressors to? There is also a Spanish company Cubigel, which also makes a copy of the 12v DC Danfos compresor. They could be coming from any where!!!!

Hi dbish,
Yep, Waeco used to be German, then taken over by Dometic who are also Electrolux ... Now we see a tie in with China and Japan.
I suspect that you may be right about the difference being the type of compressor that is being used. Makes it difficult to compare models / prices / warranty period etc.

I went through this recently. As I have learned that there no free lunches, I asked the right questions to find out why the CDF was a bargain.
The CF models are 12/240v with auto changeover when 240v applied or turned off.
The CDF models are 12v only and need a 240/12v transformer to be able to be used out of your vehicle. The CDF model is OK for those whose fridge is permanently wired to 12v and never needs 240v. This is why the CDF is a bit cheaper than the similar sized CF.

Hi stretchlizard,
Thanks for that info, this starts to make sense of the rather garbled comments that I got from an Waeco agent that CDF meant that it worked on dc !
Strange that you can't find this basic info from the Waeco web site, nor a lot of detailed info about the individual products. Some products have current draw when compressor is working - some don't. Some indicate battery voltage - some don't.
Thanks, KK
