Want to fit a tv bracket on stove side of van. Are walls hollow for butterfly fasteners or is it easy to find a stud? Are studs metal or timber?

The wall is probably hollow (with perhaps some insulation bats) but the inside wall is probably 3 mm ply, and you couldn't hang a TV off butterflies through something as thin as that: (hit a pothole at 90 kph, and your TV would take off in a big way).
I suspect that your picture of frequent studs in a caravan wall is a bit optimistic as
well, so don't expect to find a convenient stud. Also, be very wary if you drill into the caravan wall - there may be 240v cables just waiting to be drilled into (NO, please don't ask me!!)
You may get away with a thin screen LCD, but I suspect there will be troubles with finding a strong enough base for a CRT television

If that doesn't work and it sounds like it won't, you could suspend your LCD from a cabinet above!
Run some S/S wires down from 2 holes in the cabinet then secure them to the LCD/ TV. Maybe a bit of Velcro to stop it wobbling around every time someone moves in the van and your done.
Cheers.

This is
mine in a Freedom
We take TV down when travelling but can view it from bed or sitting at table .
Possibly not the same for Expanda but you might get some ideas from it,
Pedro

I bought my Expanda in May. At the time of order they needed to know if I was going to want a TV on a bracket either then or at a later date so it could be allowed for during the manufacture of the van. Think they were going to strengthen the area it would go on to be able to support the weight.
I just put my TV up on top of the pantry cupboard or above the fridge when I want it set up.It spends more time in its box than out.

I wanted to fit one of those fold down tables to the outside of my Sterling, and Jayco were good enough to provide the frame diagram. I just supplied the chassis SN and which side I wanted etc.
The fibreglass exterior model is bonded to a 19mm square aluminium frame and then plywood interior. All the lot has polystyrene insulation in cavities.
You would need to find a frame member for sure, or a beefed up furniture item would be better. Jayco as far I have noticed don't appear to use the external wall to mount TV arms.
Also check where your wiring could be routed.
There's also some fancy pop rivets out now which splay out wide when used. These came with the table.

What model Expanda do you have 16.49 pop top , 18.57 full caravan?
16.49's have to have the exterior wall near the door strengthend at manufacture to take a TV bracket. If not already done, some owners have got hold of a piece of genuine Jayco ply and screwed/glued it to the interior wall where you want to mount the bracket.
You could join the Expanda owners

where many members there can offer photo's & advice on this subject.
