I have two of these fantastic machines. Unfortunately I have been unable to find a diff locker of any sort to install. I was thinking that it may be possible to permanently lock the front diff by welding up the gears like they do in speedway cars.
I realise that I would be limiting my use of 4wd to straight line or slight turns in soft stuff but that's when I really need 4wd.
Some opinions would be appreciated.

I wouldn't think that's a good idea - you'll end up having to get out to unlock the hubs everytime you want to turn a corner!
If it's any help, the Daihatsu Rockies shared a lot of the running gear with the Hilux/4Runner - if you can confirm the front diff centre is the same, you'll have a far greater chance of getting a locker for Hilux/4Runner...

Hi Bluebus,
Try the Lokka Diff, I've seen some good results.
However they must be set up exactly right or they get twitchy.
Regards
Geoff

HI Doug,
I live not far from these guys and bugger me if they said they could not fit one to my Rocky :-(( maybe
mine had a non standard diff???
Also after having a CIG locker in my Blizzard I would advise against doing this. It will turn your vehicle into offroad only as it is very illegal.
Cheers, Trevor.

You really need 2 of these things - 1 to drive and 1 for parts.
Good 4WDs, but it's virtually impossible to find parts for these things.
