after years of no problems with my mobile phones this new one i signed up for 6 weeks ago - telstra easy touch blue tick phone has a fuzzy screen.
Telstra tell me the screen looks cracked (not to me it doesn't there isn't a mark on the phone) and they say its not covered under warranty. Very disappointing. If the phone is that crap that it can't even last 6 weeks why would telstra put their name on it? They also say it will cost me $50 just to get it looked at!
I'm not happy, what can I do?

1. write down what happened and when
2. write down exactly who said what and when
3. go to consumer affairs
4. at the same time go to the communications ombudsman
It can take some time to go through this process, but it's worth it. I had a major victory over telstra through this process, plus they credited $$$ to my account as
well.
So give it a go: nothing to lose and everything to gain. But keep a clear record of all conversations and communications.
regards

Where are you as there are other
places who fix phones .
Also what is the make of the phone as you could approach the manufacturer and claim a fault.

I stopped buying phones on plans years ago.
I now buy them from shops or ebay stores outright and put my own sim card in them.
I know it doesnt solve your problem but the phones are half the cost

"That company" is the biggest disgrace ever to come out of Australia. The only good thing about "That company" is the coverage. Went on prepaid in July ready for the big move into the van. August had the house cancelled. Since then I have been on their merry-go-round. They put me back on post-paid while away sent me a bill for $660 by the time it got to me and tripple charged me for my usb internet that I paid in advance. Again because we were going away I thought ringing the rotts ahead of time im doing the right thing.Last week I got a letter about home products sent to the address that was cancelled back in August. Go figure. You cant just let it go or they will sort your credit rating out. Naa never having a contract ever again with the half English speaking bunch of so n sos.

Tell me about it OG,
Few years ago [not that company but another telco] sent me an account for a phone and plan I had never ordered or asked for.
Rang them up and told them they had the wrong person, even though they had all my particulars, how they got them I'll never know.
Said they would sort it out, 6 months later got knocked back applying for a credit card. Yep they had listed the debt with BayCorp and has plaqued me ever since.
I'll bet theres an awful lot of people out there that dont have a clue their credit rating has been blown out of the
water by these rogue telcos.
Cheers.....Lionel.

I had a similar experience with W.... Pages, had two listings under different names same number, changes address, they changes on not the other I refused to pay for the incorrect one, they agreed. I went for a home loan 6 months latter & I was listed as bad debt. I was told it takes 3 years to clear. I demanded them to remove the debt & finally it was done after they said it couldn't.

Hi, I had a problem with a phone through the same company a while ago. The phone just stopped workin. Went back to where I bought it from [locally] and after being given the run around about it costs to fix the phone, I blew my top and demanded that they either fix it or replace it under warranty. The phone was only 6 mths old. To cut it short, they had to fix it twice under warranty. Not happy either of us but I was standing my ground on the warranty bit. Hope this helps. Bob
