Well extravagant as it may sound, 105,000 km is 100% accurate. And they are not a "chunky" tyre. Also he is a very conservative driver. The speedo is 100% accurate as it has been checked against three different brands of GPS units. Its running 4.37 front and rear differentials as against the standard 4.1s. Tyre pressures are run at 40 PSI and 20PSI on
the beach. As the Surf weighs on at 1875KG its not as heavy as the Patrols/Landcruisers, plus I have been in the motor trade with the BMC corporation, then British Leyland before its demise in the 1970s, and recently retired 18 months ago.
My`96 4Runner is running Goodyear MTRs and those have done 68,000 and still have another 15,000 Km left on them. I believe that the longevity of our tyres is partly due to the way we drive, and how we look after them. The MTRs are far more aggressive and "Chunky" than the ProComp X terrain - also 80% noisier then the X terrains.
