I got a bit of a shock today to find some amazing changes to the blog section of the site. The blogs are now all listed and displayed along the same lines as the forum page. On a members individual blog page, the blogs are now displayed in chronological (date) order making them a lot easier to locate. They remain this way even after editing.

David has developed an excellent search feature as well which more or less eliminates the need for specific "tagging" of a blog. The search is specific to the members blogs when you are in their blog page. All you have to do is type the reference you wish ie; "Canning Stock Route" and it will produce a full list of the members blogs concerning the Canning. If you submit the same search from the site blog page (accessed by the "Blogs" button on the banner at the top of each page) you will get a list of all relevant posts from all members who have submitted blogs about, or mentioning that term. It's a lot easier to now locate info about a specific track or place or thing you might be interested in that's been written from the personal perspective by the members on the site.

It's a great set of improvements. Hats off to David and Damian.

I'll be doing a bit of editing over the coming weeks to get some consistency in my blog headings so I apologise in advance to all the other bloggers if eight of mine appear in a flurry.

Well done again Exploroz team.

Cheers Mick.

Mick,

Anyone would think you never write or read blogs ;)

It's a curious habit I have Kev. I spend enough money on 4x4's, equipment and these trips in general that I feel compelled to ensure that I remember them LOL.

You're dead right John. Makes it a lot easier to group relevant blogs together. I'm just going to slowly go through and do that now. Great for trip planning when you can read about the actual areas you intend travelling. When are you starting? You've got some interesting stories to tell.

I would love to write a few but I spend so much time reading yours that I have no time left to write my own :-)

Besides mine would probably get moderated :-P

Bet you didn't realise how many of the damn things you have written over the years, bloody heaps there Mick.

Mick,

Glad you like the updates - more to come as I am rewritting the blog photo galleries also so that you can get an blog photo view for any of the blogs so for instance you will be able to dial up a page of all photos from Mick O's blogs or maybe even videos.

The photo system will be ready next week and then all I have to do is add the map style navigation to allow you to attach your blog to a route or place on the map - this is a little more work but is in the schedule for the blogs system.

We are also adding related blog links to the treknotes and using the new search systems to link blogs to all sorts of areas of the site to add the user stories to all the treks and site articles where the content matches.

Any feedback or other comments on the blogs system please send them through.

Cheers David. As I said, a great effort by you and the team. The other enhancements you mention will produce a very rich set of tools for trip planning. Can hardly wait to see them all. Just in the process of creating some new "Places" to link to the blogs.

He's actually not too bad in the flesh ;-))))

Morning after morning as he emerges from his rooftop tent, immediately checks all four tyres to ensure none have gone down overnight, quite entertaining actually.

Mick great effort on the blogs has helped me out doing a trip report as I just tell people to go to Exploroz and read your blog for a large portion of the trip.

We just had to check his campsite of a morning as he drove out to ensure he hadn't left anything else behind!
