I am currently looking at getting a DVD set up for the long trips. After some research I have decided that the roof mounted option will suit us best. At the WOW sight and sound centre today the salesman was trying to push the Option Audio DVD system (I am not sure if this is a good one or if he was just trying to push it due to their limited stock).
Just wondering if anyone has any info pros/cons on brands that you know, what I should look for etc?
Also read that it is best to put some type of insulation between the roof mount and roof as the player can get quite "hot" due to heat penetrating the roof??????? Not sure if this is correct or old info.
Thanks heaps for your help

Hi Totem I wasnt too woried about warranty as it was reasonably cheep. It had built in light would also play Cds sockets for SD card @ USB mem stick. It also transmitted the audio to the vehicles FM radio, or plug in head phones. If the wife wants to watch DVDs & i dont wanto hear it she uses a $4 FM radio with ear phones. Cheers Daryl.

We got a clarion one with about a 10 inch screen and 3 sets of wireless headphones, cost about $1000 I think.
I removed the interior light and put the DVD in it's place. the DVD player had an inbuilt light which is better than the original.
It hasn't missed a beat. It is attached neat to the roof with no insulation. 18 months in and no issues yet.
It was personal choice to not go through ebay as if there were problems I wanted to be able to go and see someone as opposed to emailing a faceless identity.

Thanks heaps MC, we are also after the wireless headphones so will have a look at Clarion, the one we were looking at has the built in light to replace interior one and thought that this would be on all roof mounted DVD players but not so. thanks for your info
