got one of these at Coles a couple of weeks ago that was advertised in their catalogues. Definatly the real deal. At the price I was first a bit apprehensive, but no issues, even includes the batteries

I have had a Maglight for about 20 years and they are very tough, but recently I bought a little Fenix Cree LED powered light which is about 1/10 the size of the Maglight and just as tough, but puts out about 10x the light power.

It's worth looking into lights as there are much better products out there than the Mag.....unless you want it for something else other than a torch...... :-0

Cheers,

Mark

But now Maglights are LED too. You have to compare Nissans with Nissans.

Agree Mark while Mag were probably the leaders in quality torch lighting for years there are a few better ones on the market now like the Led Lenser .
The 7 LED X21 is like a car headlight shining over 500m using just 4 'D' batteries it runs for 300 hours. Even the headlamps when focused to a spot shines over 100m :-)
Not that that makes the Woolys special any less good value at $29.
Cheers Craig..................

Agree with Crackles

Got an Led Lenser P7 recently. It is a size or two down from the phenomenal X21, even so it is extremely bright. It has a dimmer setting as well for when less light is needed. My nephew took me shopping in Brisbane and we got one each. I was a little sceptical. I still have an old Mag Charger that is out of use now (needs a new battery) plus a few old Maglights of different sizes and some newer led lights. The Led Lenser P7 obsoleted all of them. It's only 133mm long and uses 4AAA batteries.

Still love my old Maglights. But it is the Led Lenser that lives in the glove box now.

It did cost a lot more than $29 but nowhere near what I paid for the Magcharger or a couple of other torches over the years.

I got the Maglight LED upgrade for mine and it is still MILES behind in terms of light output....

I've got both a 4D 3W LED Maglite and a 2AA Fenix LD20 cree LED 3W.

The Fenix LD20 is known as 'the best all round' torch for the 2 AA size and although it puts out a lot of light, the Maglite isn't that far behind for performance - I would say about it puts out 3/4 of what the fenix does.

The real issue is that I only get 1 hour on high with a set of AA batteries in the Fenix LD20, while the Maglite will operate for days (110hours I think they say).

They are both good torches, but if I were to have one it would be the Maglite. Although it is obviously bulky compared with a 2AA torch, it gives light for a much longer period of time and so is more reliable.

I bought several when they were out for $29.00 at Coles. They are 3 watt LED and require 4 x D cell batteries. The units I bought came with Duracell batteries. They are Maglite and they are VERY good. I even registered mine with Maglite (on the web) and the system accepted the serial number and confirmed the process. So they must be kosher.

Went to three Woolies in Perth northern suburbs today. No stock.
Then found them in Coles for $39 and bought one.
Testing begins when it gets dark.
Cheers, Tony
