I have a set of Aussie Truck Mirrors but despite putting new heads on them they still shake.

Im not sure if its just the wind or the air coming off the car mirrors right beside them.

Camec in Perth were selling these for about $119 last week Maybe the other branches have them as well.

They were the good ones with the stainless metalbacked heads with 3 adjusting screws.

Yep, Aussie Trucks the way to go.

Best to put a strip of clear plastic film down the side of the door where the strap and rubber support sits.

Best to check your vehcle's suitability for them though. Met a bloke who's window slot was the wrong shape and wouldn't take the Aussie truck type. Can't remember the make of the vehicle though.

Used an 'okey' type elastic from the mirror to the gap between the door and front wing. Cured the vibration on mine. As long as the end has a small rubber end stop there is no damage to paint work etc. Adjust to fit by shortening ends or just a knot or two.
Simple and easy to replace.

Gooday,
The ones Camec sell are a far better mirror than the AussieTruck, as said, S/Steel head, and are larger mirror. They are a clone of the Original Vision Plus from the US, Camec now get them made in China at less than half of what the Vision Plus were. I have had Vision Plus for about 7 years and just a great investment, also have the 4inch spot mirrors for them, great.
Cheers,

I will vote for the Aussie truck mirrors.

For paint protection I had 2 strips of magnetic sign material cut by the local sign shop and place them under the straps, very quick and easy to fit.

Yep Aussie truck mirrors are the way to go but there is a problem with them that I discovered. On my last vehicle after travelling on some dirt road I found the window had been scratched quite badly after winding up and down a few times. This was caused by dirt build up on the coated surface of the part that hooks over the door and the window slides against. I have found by gluing on a piece of Velcro (the soft section of Velcro) on that bit the window slides against, the problem is solved. I have used the mirrors several times on my new vehicle and no sign of scratching, you have to glue the bits on though with contact cement as the normal sticky will let go in the heat.

I had the same problem, but at Bunnings I found a roll of adhesive backed felt tape, 1 metre in the roll, cost about $4.00. I found it was a bit thick, but was easy to peel it back to about half it's thickness. You can find it in the vicinity of the velcro tape etc. Regards.

For the same vehicle, I chose....
Enzo Magnetic Mirrors
Not perfect I guess, but they seem to work very well - minor movement in the mirrors while mobile - they stay in adjustment. Mine were about $120 the pair.
They got good raps in other forums, hence my choice.
