I have the Magellan Explorist XL with the Mapsend Lite V2 programme on my laptop. I have been able to download the detailed maps from the SD card in the GPS to the computer with routes POIs etc but I am not able to get the GPS to track or navigate through the computer. My question is, should I be able to do this and how can I get it to work? I believe it should work using the NEMA data comm, is this correct? Under NEMA it has 4 options, off, V1.5 APA V1.5 XTE and V2.1 GSA. Now being an older bloke and not too flash with all this computer stuff I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks for any replies.

It will only record your GPS log (track). With Mapsend already runing, Connect the GPS to the laptop, then turn it on and set the GPS to NMEA and V2.1 GSA.
In Mapsend, go to Gps Content, Gps Log, then click on start. If it comes up with GPS Connection Failure, you need to find the correct port and try again. Set the baud rate to 4800 and the GPS must have satellite signal to send to the laptop, so it won't work indoors.

Thank you for the replies. Fred you are a legend, got it working and all is good. Only trouble is fitting the laptop somewhere, that will be a bigger problem but will work something out. Once again thank you for your help I have been trying for sometime now to get it running but am happy now. Regards.
