Probably as according to Nissan (And a few who post on here) Its all a figment of our imagination and there is no issues with the 3 litre, so why change a time tested known product?

hi
on the post i read it said the patrol will remain body on frame design

it will have a 4.8l V8 did not specify deisel or petrol but i think it means petrol

other eng options will include a 4.0l v6 petrol
and a 3.0l v6 deisel (co- developed with renault)

that is rumoured to have 265hp and 405ft-lbs of torque. so hopefully it wont be another handgrenade

Sorry Fisho64, the ZD30 is a Nissan designed and built engine not Renault. The Europeans know how to build small reliable diesels.

search a little harder and youll find its a Renault sourced engine.
Youll find it on the Patrol forums but am still looking for somewhere more reliable for the info!

3.0Di is one of the few products suupplied BY Nissan TO Renault under the technology sharing agreement. The source I saw was a nissan corporate document explaining the agreement.

I havent seen that anywhere previously but it may be true of course not being a Nisoholic.

But if its the case then it reminds me of something I read a while back

"The Irish invented the the bagpipes then gave them to the Scots as a joke-but the Scottish havent got it yet!"

Fisho64, here's a basic cut and paste of the text of the document showing the ZD30 was indeed a Nissan engine.
Regards Andrew.

PRESS RELEASENovember 21, 2000.
For Immediate publication

Nissan Motor and Nissan Diesel
to supply Renault with Diesel engine

Nissan Motor, Nissan Diesel and Renault announced a long-term agreement today for Nissan Motor and Nissan Diesel to supply diesel (ZD) engines to Renault and Renault VI beginning in the spring of 2003. Under the agreement, production of the ZD engine will double as Renault and Renault VI purchase approximately 30,000 engines a year. These come in addition to the approximately 30,000 engines currently supplied to Nissan Motor.

Renault and Renault VI will utilize the engines in their range of light commercial vehicles (LCV). The ZD, 4-cylinder, 3 litre class Diesel engine with direct injection represents state-of-the art engine technology in terms of noise, vibration and harshness suppression as well as fuel consumption reduction. The engine fitted to Renault products will be equipped with the common rail system and offer horsepower output with a range from 120 to 160 bhp. Nissan currently use the engine in vehicles including the Terrano, Elgrand and Safari/Patrol.

This long-term agreement is consistent with the global cross support strategy pursued by Renault and Nissan.

well if that is genuine, Renault had plenty of warning! The press release is dated 2000 announcing a deal starting in 2003. If they actually bought it in 2003-then well they deserved it!

Actually, it's the result of an overnight liaison between a KLUGER & the new PRADO!! However there's a strong rumour that the PATHFINDER snuck in when KLUGER was out working!!! Nissan are reported to be starting a huge new complex in India (as we know vehicles like Pathfinder & Navara are made in Thailand & Spain) the design Engineer from TATA vehicles has been promoted to quality control on the 2010 Patrol line.

NIssan are convinced that by supplying a 3 litre engine they are giving the consumer more 'bang' for their buck.

G/Day Brian

I like ours much better since it had a Steinbauer Chip installed last week, minimum 20% more power, you can feel the difference.

Our local Nissan Dealer stated that they will be launched in Saudi Arabia early 2010 and released in Australia late 2011, so don't hold your breath.
