Got the new insurance renewal in the mail for the Prado. I remembered that I hadn't updated the policy to include the suspension lift as a modification. So I jump online to get a quote to see what the difference will be when I add the extras. Surprise surprise, the online quote is cheaper than my renewal. And I didn't add online that we also held multiple policies with the company which allows for a discount.

So I give them I call to inquire. The woman I'm speaking to takes into accont the muliple polices and the modification, crunches the numbers and gives me a cheaper quote again. So in the space of five minutes the premium has gone from $651 to $621 to $610.

I'm pretty happy with that, considering the $610 is cheaper than what I paid last year. Kind of makes you wonder?

AAMI.

On their present form, if I keep informing them of the accessories I've fitted then the premium will keep going down. Roof Rack, HF, HID spotties, gee I could get thing down to 50 bucks :)

I always check our insurance quotes each year, green slips, etc as there will almost always be a variation. A majority of people on the move who want to pay the bills quickly to keep up to date just press the go button, me included, until I checked a couple out about three years ago.

As mulletmann said you can often get an even better quote when you talk direct.

Have a good one

Same as you, always check, get an online quote as well.

This year I saved $243.00 on car insurance and CTP with AAMI.

There is now a pay for comprehensive by the Km's you do.

For our toyota echo it went from $630 to $247. And if we get to the agreed Km's limit it's like $20 for another 1,000.

So if you use your 4WD on weekends and holidays like I do, well what can I say.

Pretty sure it's this:

No affiliations etc.

Yes I just went through this the other day and was able to save $300 on one vehicle and $90 on the other. They had listed the vehicles as business rather than private, changed the age limit to 40 and over etc etc, it's worth doing. Bingle do some great deals online also.

You can't go past DGA Insurance, from my perspective anyway. 60 K cover (agreed) for around $600/year $250 excess.

I'm an idiot! Sorry that was the cost of our camper insurance. We pay just over a grand with DGA for the car.

Interesting thread.
I have 3 policies due with AAMI next month & until I sold my patrol I had 4. The house & contents & 2 cars are $3160 in total.
They are charging my 20 year old son $820 for his 4x4 Navara with an agreed value of $19,500 on rating 2.
I am rating one for life & they want to slug me $860 for our 4x2 Hilux with agreed value at $13,500.
Our camry is on a rating 4 because our youngest drives it. It is $1250.
I had better get my arse down to AAMI & query them.

I mentioned earlier that my renewal came in and I saved a fortune by getting a web quote. My CTP was also cheaper via web quote.

I had to call them regarding the CTP as they had the renewal and unless I changed provider.

They didn't like it and suggested something about loyalty, I explained that loyalty is a 2 way street :) and wasn't sure why I should pay more for it.

My wife was on AAMI and not as forceful as me changed to GIO.

What is really strange is that Sun Corp own AAMI, GIO, Just Cars, and god knows how many more and there is no parity.

Jeez I pay $627 for a 2005 Cruiser insured for $55,000 plus $11,000 of extras

With Affinity Insurance Brokers.

The actual insurer is Lumley owned by Wesfarmers

Hi Graham
I think you will find they won't give you 66k if your truck goes up in smoke. We had an agreed value of 65k on our 2004 TD troopy with 35 k of extra's.
This was two years ago so it has gone down to just over 60k. Might be worth checking what they will give you for total loss?

AAMI wanted nearly $800/year for my 1997 80 series, and would insure it for only $10,000. Said bye bye to them after many years of custom, and said hello to Suncorp.

Still can't figure out how people can insure cars worth over 50k for less than my 13k baby! Probably something to do with age (I am 27 and a Rating 1). More things to look forward to in the future I guess :-)

I didnt say they would give me $66,000.

I said thats what its insured for against some with a $20,000 vehicle paying more

Would anyone on a market value policy.

Suncorp ha b***dy HA I was with them and when I told them about the

extras they said thats fine you now have a $900 excess.

I said no I dont, you have lost a customer that had 6 policies with them.

Wouldnt go back they are toooooooo expensive.

Now have the Croozer, the van and all the contents with Affinity for not much more than Suncorp wanted for the car and van.

Incidentally Suncorp would insure my van contents in the van or in an

enclosed annexe but if I put any of it in the LOCKED AND ALARMED car they

would not cover it so watch what you are getting with them.

Yes the contents issue is an interesting one. We have gone for “open air “ insurance. Yes, our gear is covered sitting on the camping table outside! This took some organising and it is not cheap but we are happy with it.
In fact it took quite a while to organise so I’m not sure what checks the insurance company made? Our gear is also covered for accidental damage.
