Hi All,
I am thinking of buying a 1980 something Toyota Bundera. I have seen that there are many different engine types and sizes. Just wondering what you all think of the Bundera and what problems you've had with them and what i should keep an eye out for when buying one.
Cheers,
John

Hi Johnnyboy,
Bundera,s came out in early 1985 when the 70 series Landcruiser was released.
They had coil springs all round and a 2.4 l petrol 4cyl motor.
They were also updated with a turbo diesel motor around 1987 but is wasnt overly powerfull or popular.
Bearing in mind that they were only brought out till about 1988 that they will be quite old and suffer from rust, mechanical gremlins etc like any steel bodied 21 year
old car would. Most would have had a new motor by now too a 253 holden V8 was a popular swap. The five speed gearbox was basically a hilux unit not a landcruiser box so suffered with more power.
I have tried to answer your question and be accurate but no doubt others may know more than me. The good news is that any still running around should be fairly cheap by now.
Good luck with your hunt.
Regards Alan

Also as the first Landcruiser with coils, they also had a bit of a reputation for "spitting" coils (perhaps undeserved). Many will have after market
suspension.
Whilst I am a Toyota man, I think that perhaps a SWB Maverick or GQ Patrol would be a better option. Subject to price...
Good luck.
Steve

Thanks for the info guys. Was thinking of either a Bundera or a MK or GQ patrol as a bit of a thrash around in the bush car. Will have a bit of a look before i rush into anything.
