CLUTTERBUCK HILLS

Greetings all,

Would be interested to hear from anyone who has travelled to PATJARR(Karilwara) and the Clutterbuck Hills area in the Gibson desert.

Gathering information for a possible trip next year.

Cheers Jim

Hi Jim,

I got to within about 45km west of the hills on my 2007 trip but I came in from the Gary Highway. I believe I know where the western back track is. There is a lake east of Lake Gruszka. A track from there goes north right around the Alfred and Marie Ranges and I suspect ends up at the hills.

Member Dennis P from Scotland I think has been there..

Cheers
Alan

Hi Jim and Alan,

Yep, I was there for a couple of years about 10 years ago.
Back then the only way to see the Clutterbucks was on a guided tour and only available to fly in/fly out tourists.
Things may well have changed by now.

Try this link for contact numbers,

Patjarr

Cheers,
Dennis

Hi there
We went to Patjarr in 2006 from the south. We had arranged to visit the Art Centre. It was wonderful! We organised it ourselves and went on our own. Photo is late evening, some km from Patjarr. Image Could Not Be Found

Have been to the Clutterbucks a couple of times in the last two years. Nice country. make sure you have permission as their is several significant sites there but have found the traditional people from Patjarr very helpful if you do the right thing. the track mentioned from Lake Gruzka is very overgrown but there is a couple of other tracks that aren't to bad. Locals can point them out.
there was no water available from Patjarr last time I was there, the bore had gone bad and it was being trucked in, I believe they now have a RO plant.
