OMG the bloody thing is breeding I am sure.

To save the marriage, figure out 2 kids and a wife that doesn't work and I used to get home home from a day job and make dinner every night and more often than not get both kids to sleep and do the wash up ... to get her cooking I let her buy a Thermomix (and so therefore I don't have a dual battery system, bullbar or shockie upgrade ...) and well what can I say. We are still together, she does cook quite often, the kids even have some favourites from it, and it is bloody well built and I do expect it to last forever and it does actually mill wheat and make desert and knead dough and cook soups and make curries and makes mince and ... etc etc.

I rate it, I think it is unbreakable, and if anything does its replaceable, so you now just the cost and how do they justify it?

Well I figured my food processor has got cracks in it, the coffee chopper broke, and she killed the breadmaker (doesn't bake bread but does mill wheat and knead dough). So add in the marriage and I let them do a demonstration night here and we bought it.

For anyone else out there we are talking close to $2k after delivery costs and books and specialised cleaners and delivery dishes etc etc.

But it is a marvel and I don't ever expect to buy another food processor, something that can mill raw wheat, mince, cook, make sorbet, etc.

If you want the wife's take on it pm me and I'll put her in touch with your wife. No we don't sell them though I sometimes wish she did.

Mind you because it creates heat with a heating element it is an energy sucker and you'd need at least a 2Kw gennie if you took it away. Just looked under it and peak power is rated at 1500w.

There's some good forums.

It was used on Masterchef.

Do I use it? not much, it can't tell when carrot is caramelised it can't do medium rare T bones, and I guess I like to watch and cook food. The TM (in forums short for Thermomix) is like a set and forget and then open up to serve thing. There are a lot of recipes on forums and yes it is quick and so far, about 8 months old, going very well, and take up on the aggregate less space than a food processor (think $800 model), chopper, mincer, milling devince, electric heating element, etc.

I think for the price that you need to be able to justify the fact that you will use all of the functions...

A Bamix Stick blender is the most versatile small kitchen appliance and a top of the line one is $250.

My thoughts...

Cheers,

You mean a Bamiix plus a heating element, so $250 plus $100. It actually cooks, straight from mixer to plate, nothing else on the market does that, of which I am aware.

So there is a big convenience factor. And every part dismantles and can go in the dishwasher, of course.

Picture this, you pour in oil, then turn to a dial and a then you peel, not chop, onion and garlic and ginger and toss them in, then the dry spices, then turn another dial, then the meat, on bone even, and coconut milk, and set. And you can put on the steam object and pour in rice, in 20 min you serve rice and meat curry. Depdening on ingredients it does it as good as anything. No pot, no pan, no mess no blunt cooking knives, no sweating over watching and cooking so it doesn't burn.

And yes it does have a self cleaning function if you want.

We believe they are units that you actually hand down through generations.
