If you read this thread Bruce, you replied to a thread back in Feb 08, ID 54830 about Halifax caravan
park in Nelsons Bay. I was researching this
park and you gave some very interesting information about its original owner Captain Geoffrey Neville Wikner, and how he flew an old Halifax bomber out to Australia after the war. You mentioned that you used to know his son Ken, who wrote a book about his father. I would very much like to read this book but I'm unable to find a listing for it in our local libraries. Would you know where I might be able to get hold of a copy. You said the book was titled " Flight of the Halifax ".
I'm hoping you or someone may be able to assist me.
Many thanks
Jon

Hi Jon, Flight of the Halifax was compiled by Norman
Mitchell, first published in 1993 by K.V. Wikner and printed by McPherson's Printing PTY Limited, 83 Logueville Road, Lane Cove 2006.
Ken sadly passed away about 6 years ago, but if you do not have any luck I will try to get in contact with Kens wife. Or I could lend you my copy.

Hi Ian, Ken was 63 when he died.......I am a Master USL Class V skipper vessels to 24 meters, which I have not done for a few years now.
But Ken worked for me when I built my last yacht in
Yeppoon, he was one of the best Shipwrights in the business. Ha I have hair hahahaha.
Ken was in charge of launching vessels at Carringtons as
well as Master of Apprentices'. Up near Raymond Terrace they built that steamer I think. Also my wife taught at Raymond Terrace High for many years up till 1989.

Bruce
All but one of my children went to Raymond Terrace High and we had an engineering
shop in Old Punt Road Tomago my son started his apprenticeship with me and then spent the balance at Carrington Slipways and the first year there he was Apprentice of the year.
We built wheelhouses and and cable drum rollers for the oil rig supply vessels for the Slipway and Ken was a regular at our works which is now a major Australian supplier of transformers and sub stations.
When you say your wife taught there for a long time how long as my last left there in 1981 and finished high school at Forster.
Was your wife a local girl.
Sorry this thread is now off topic and if you like you can email me direct at nitramir@bigpond.net.au that is if you want to or Ill just wonder if your wife copped cheak from my kids.ha Ha.

Thank you Bruce for taking the time to reply to my question. I haven't switched on the computer for a couple of days, so I was pleased to see your reply. I think with the information that you and Andrew have supplied me, I should be able to get hold of a copy.
I'm happy to see that Ian from Powerstream has also found that he has something in common with you.
Many thanks Jon
