Hi all, Im interested in these x jack's as i have recently used them at work. I was told the best one to buy is the BushRanger and they are around $400.

Does anyone know where i can get one cheaper than this or maybe another sort of x jack?

Cheers

Tukka,

Commonly known as Exhaust Jacks.

They vary in price and quality, you can get [url=http://cgi.ebay.com.au/4WD-AIR-BAG-OFF-ROAD-RECOVERY-EXHAUST-JACK-4x4-NEW_W0QQitemZ300370100458QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item45ef7400ea#ht_1452wt_939]An Exhaust Jack for $175 on eBay, lest in Auction (Click here)[/url

Best to troll around the 4X4 accessory suppliers and get a feel for them.

Yeah i'd probably stick to the well known brands. Ironman and Bushranger or ARB if they make them. Though would probably go Ironman, good gear at lower prices. Never used one myself, never had a problem with needing a lift when i owned the old girl. Though i think your better off with one.

I ahve one of the bushrangers. Never been out of the bag. I've always been advised to carry a couple of sheets of thickish rubber or carpet to use as a baffle as they are susceptible to being punctured by the underside of the vehicle if you are not careful.

If you're keen, stake out you local Rays outdoors (if you have them in WA) as they often have them at 26 % off during their members sales.

Cheers Mick

Thanks Mick

The bushranger i used at work was double insulated on top and bottom for this reason. The only thing they said was to try keep it off the exhaust as it will probably burn a hole in it.

see how i go anyway

They should be used with care as they tend not to be that stable. Some of the better ones now have heavy duty ends to prevent damage from sharp bits on the vehicle and ground. I have been advised several times not to use them with turbo charged vehicles. One jack I saw recently had an option to use a compressor instead of the exhaust specifically because of this. May have been a Bushranger. I carted one around for years and never used it. I have had a few times recently when it would have reduced the amount of effort to recover the vehicle so perhaps I should put it back in. :-)
