Hi Guys,

Just bought some Bridgestone 694s in LT 265/75/16's. They were original equipment on a new patrol but were swapped for Mud Tyres.

Are these as good as the ones I would buy from a tyre retailer.

Only paid $150 so any reasonable mileage would be ok.

Regards
Geoff

Hi Geoff
I have been running these now for a couple of years and they are a great tyre. Just because they do not have that very aggressive tread pattern, does not mean a thing. Very quiet on the road and good on the bush tracks.

Your price of $150 is a steal. Just put some LT on the Prado in the size 265/65 x17 and they were $315.00 each. You will be very happy with them.

Cheers

Stephen

Hi Jethro,

I had a set on my previous patrol, they were great. Very good on wet & dry bitumen and excellent on gravel. A very quiet tyre too.

Hi Geoff

Tread is to mild for most off bitumen things in Vic causing them to gravel skate , but in terms of a tougher road tyre they are good.

I can't agree with you here - they are excellent on gravel, brilliant in sand and can handle mud reasonably well. I'm on my third set of 694s and can't really fault them. Like most 4WD owners I don't spend most of my time off road and want a tyre that will handle all conditions well. Most important is wet bitumen. The 694 is exemplary in this regard.

My last two sets of 694s have covered varied terrain including the Simpson, a wet Plenty Hwy, the GCR - I could go on. I've only had one puncture (heading into Birdsville on a newly graded road at faster than the recommended speed and with too high a tyre pressure).

The 694s are a great all round All Terrain tyre.

Hi Robin,
I can't agree with you either. I have only had mine a short while, but they are excellent on the dirt/gravel roads up here (Darwin region). No cross sliding/skidding at all. Just have to get the pressures right. They are an excellent tyre.

Hi Guys

Shows how we can hold different opinions about tyres and that we really need to compare things under the same and controlled conditions for best results by swapping wheels sets around on the same vehicle - unfortunately the Patrol with the 694's on in my tests rolled it in the dirt.

Are you talking about rolling your vehicle or rolling the tyres off the rims? If you rolled your vehicle then I'd suggest that the tyres weren't necessarily the problem.

Not my car Holden , I am not saying that tyres were cause of roll because insufficent data was gathered - rather that the tests ended early because the other car rolled.

Yes - good price - I am paying $150 for 235/70/16 ones for the Navara. I only got 63,000 km out of the originals, what can I expect from these ones?

Id dare say you will be more then happy with them for handling and noise etc. Although you have the overseas version, the 265/75/26LT arent made in Australia, there arent many that are. The Aussie made ones last longer and are harder then the overseas ones giving longer life and better wear patterns. But dont worry its nothing to worry about, before they went LT it was something to consider but believe me they are a great tyre now. I prefer the 693LT but cant get it in 17''. But only because i prefer the tread pattern and square shoulders. Performance is the same.

Hi Jethro,

You got ripped off, It happens to all of us.

But to show you I'm a caring sort of a fella and to ease your pain, I'm willing to reinburse you your money to take the tyres off your hands. : )

You're right they are 693's, I got excited by the price and guessed they were 694's because I heard they had stopped making 693's.

Hopefully they will go close to 694's. 29 of 30 comments have been positive so they should do the job.

Thanks.

A bargain.
As for the tyre I had a set and wouldn't bother with them again.
However at that price you've got nothing to lose.

Thanks Dean,

Did you have trouble in any particular conditions, or were they generally not up to scratch in all conditions.

Bridgestone 694's are the best kept AT tyre secret available on my fourth set. Such a low profile compared to the so called Coopers but they are great. Excellent allround tyre.
