Hi All
Just letting you know DGA now use Allianz, as their former underwriter “CGU is getting out of the modified car market according to Kathy Johnston of DGA”. Allianz don’t offer AGREED VALUE which is disappointing as this is what we had previously. For us a total loss could mean a payout of 12 k less than our current policy that is about to expire. They still do offer a “no restrictions” on modifications as long as they comply with ADR’s. They also offer cover anywhere on or off road in Australia. As we have had our vehicle independently valued for last year’s policy, in the case of a total lost Kathy has said “ they would take this into consideration, should a total lost occur”
Our policy reduced by about $200 to $800 for which they will pay a maximum of approx 50 k should a total lost occur. Excess is up $50 to $300. We have a NO excess should we claim a windscreen.
Hope this info is useful to some.
Cheers Lyndon

Thanks for that Lyndon
Did they inform you or were you talking to them about something else and it was mentioned? It would be nice to inform current policy holders. I haven't received any info from them.
Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve
They sent a cover letter advising the change over of the Allianz. There was no mention of the move to market value only, I noticed when I read the policy.

I would have thought that the conditions you agreed on when you took the policy for agreed value would still stand until the policy expires.
Mine is coming up after Christmas with DGA and I had enough trouble the last time. I switch from Allianz to them for that very reason.
Its enough to make you kick the dog.
cheers shane.

Affinity insurance Brokers offer similar type insurance as DGU.
The use Lumleys who in turn are owned by Wesfarmers.
I have my Croozer insured for $55k and 11k of extras for just over $600
Also have my van and contents with them as
well after Suncorp gave me a raw deal.

Pretty sure its market value but they havent dropped much in price have they.
I think the extras are replacement.
Hope I dont have to find out.
The van is market and the contents are fix or replace

The rules have changed what seems across the board too in relation to %age of value of accessories V value of car.
From my post on patrol
forum.
Affinity dropped the agreed value on my truck by $18000 and policy increased by $300 a year!!! and apparently I should be happy with this.
Apparently something has changed, not sure what it is but in previous years your accessory value has been able to be 40% of the car value. Now it is 25%, and next year "it may drop to 10-15%" WTF? how does that work? You can exceed 25% in no time flat if your setting up for touring.
This is going to be the best thing ever for independant valuers.
