2nd battery charging

am I allowed to have a 2nd battery set up in the rear of my vehicle ( like behind the back
seat) and have it charging through the anderson plug set up I use for my camper trailer?

Just make sure it doesn't split your head in a crash or spray acid everywhere.
Use an AGM.

If you use a wet lead acid battery , you should get a Euro type with a vent pipe that is terminated outside the car.
Some BMWs have their battery in the boot.
